Our world isn't as bad as Elyana's, but it will be if we don't do something now. The good news is that there are a lot of people who are working hard to save our planet.
Here are web sites begun by authors of books I have read. www.350.org This site connects concerned citizens in at least 181 countries. It was launched by Bill McKibben, He wrote the book, eaarth. www/thischangeseverything.org Author Naomi Klein is the author of This Changes Everything. She spent five years researching and writing this book. It relates not only to our warming planet, but our economy and our culture. I highly recommend it. It is transformative. www.AlGore.com He won a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts on Global Warming. His book is called OUR CHOICE www.worldwithoutice.com Henry Pollack, Ph.D. also won the Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore. He wrote the book A WORLD WITHOUT ICE. This site has a link to ClimateKids that has great games and info. www.smallplanet.org Anna Lappe' wrote the book Diet for a Hot Planet. The jacket cover on the book says it all: "THE CLIMATE CRISIS AT THE END OF YOUR FORK AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT." Here are web sites for environmental organizations I support: www.SierraClub.org http://www.SierraClub.org/michigan www.350.org www.rainforest-alliance.org www.greenpeace.org www.NationalWildlife.org www.ucsusa.org (Union of concerned Scientists) www.defenders.org (Defenders of Wildlife) www.audubon.org I also recommend Six Degrees by Mark Lynas. It details what can happen to our planet at each degree we warm the planet. Scientists say we should not go beyond 2 degrees. We are already there. We need to get serious about climate change. |
